Front Wheel Noise After New EBC Pads And Rotors

Are they the Sport or Ultimax rotors? The Sport rotors have very wide slots, which can make a lot of noise (sounds like an bi-plane).

Discovery 5 SVX will not go into production

I gave up waiting. We ended up getting a GMC Sierra AT4 with the 6.2L. We still have our 2008 RR HSE for tight trail work. Maybe the Defender will bring me back.....

    Terraincontact A/T

It is nice to have some quantitative data to confirm our subjective opinions: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/testDisplay.jsp?ttid=240 Very happy that Tirerack is (finally) road testing AT tires.:)

    Previous Loaner Vehicle

Plus, you have to consider that the paint has most likely never been waxed, it went through an automatic car wash once a week with an acid-based wheel cleaner, never had the leather cleaned or conditioned, had many fill-ups of rock-bottom 87 octane, and was thoroughly tested by a good portion of...

    Terraincontact A/T

We have about 5K on our Conti A\T's. They drive like a premium all season. Quiet, good ride, great dry\wet grip on tarmac. Only a few times offroad, and performed similar to the Cooper Zeons. Have yet to drive in heavy rain or mud, so that will have to wait. My wife has no complaints, which is...

    SVX

Noticed they took all references to the Disco SVX off LRUSA. What's up? I'm still lobbying SWMBO for the SVX, as this intrigued her while the D5 remains on her "no way" list.

    the LR4 19inch tire dilemma

I can say that the Cooper Zeons are much louder than the Pirelli ATR's they replaced on the RR, much louder than the Nokian Rotiiva's on my Sub Z71, louder than the Revo's and Yoko AT-S's on my LR3, and louder than BFG TA's on my CJ. They are the loudest AT's I have experienced, and only get...

    the LR4 19inch tire dilemma

I'm in the same boat - wife has demanded I replace the Cooper Zeon's on her 2008 RR, as they are really loud at all speeds - constant hum. We need AT's, so waiting for the review of the Conti's, especially regarding road noise.

For those of us that miss the Pirelli ATR, check out this new tire...

Good find. Those will definitely be going on our RR when we call "uncle" on our Zeons. They do look like a Euro-spec AT tire (VR rating and double "A") - should be composed. OK, who is first?

    LR5 Release Updates?

I think Land Rover did a great job - intelligent evolution, and addressed most of my complaints with the LR3\4. I was expecting more second row legroom, but 37.5" is fine; especially considering that the Land Rover's thirdrow (33.5) has more legroom than the 4Runner's second row (32.9...

Suggestions On How To Sell My LR4 (Sad Day)

You might also think about the Tahoe\Suburban Z71. I went with a 2016 Suburban, as I could not wait any longer for the LR5. It does surprisingly well off tarmac - not Land Rover worthy, but better than other SUV's I've had. The Z71 has a low range and better gearing than standard...

    19" Wheel/Tire Question

Thanks Paul They are definitely getting louder, even noticeable when braking for Stop signs - by far the loudest AT I have experienced. My wife, who is the primary driver of the RR now, hates the Coopers, as they are much louder and rougher than the Pirelli ATR's they replaced. The ATR's...

    19" Wheel/Tire Question

Paul, do you find your Cooper's to be loud? My 19" Cooper's hum quiet a bit - even at slow speeds; whereas my 20" Coopers only hummed a bit over 50 mph or so. In comparison my 275/65-18 Nokian Rotivva's are quieter than the all-season GY's that were OE on my Z71 Suburban.

    Tires

The 2016 RR's utilize a 255/55-20 or 31" diameter - not a lot of choices in that size; albeit, many have gone up an inch to 275/55 - 20. That is the OE Tahoe\Pimpcalade\Yukon\Denali\Sierra size, so there are a bazillion options. This is what Tirerack had for the OE size...

    LR5 Release Updates?

Ha - I actually purchased a Storm rated tent - SWMBO not thrilled about it, but wanted to protect the beast, as it is not a daily driver. http://www.ecanopy.com/stl-62809.html Let me know if you want a pic of mine?

    LR5 Release Updates?

I have not - praise be. It is very real, and supposedly they fixed it with the 2016's. The issue is that the roof bows can become detached, causing the roof to undulate and change the pressure in the cabin. Like having a window open a crack. People are getting sick and are not able to drive...

    LR5 Release Updates?

Sub Z71 Update I know most of you are not interested:smile:, but I wanted to give a quick update on the only real alternative to the LR5 - the Suburban\Tahoe with the Z71 package. I've driven it around the family coastal cattle ranch a few times now, and the SubZ71 has done very well. More...

Just picked up EBC pads and rotors

I had the EBC Sport Rotors on my 2003 GX470, and they made an insane racket. Hence, I put EBC Ultima Rotors on our 2008 FFRR, which now have close to 40K miles on them with their second set of truck-spec Greens. I stay away from EBC race-level pads, as I went through a set of Reds in two 30...

    LR5 Release Updates?

I like it. Square back-end, good sight-lines, and lots of sidewall. Like those wheels too.

Just picked up EBC pads and rotors

The Stoptech's did just fine. No rust and very little wear after 20K miles when I sold the truck. Plus, they were about half the price of the EBC Ultimax's. Stoptech does not make a front rotor for the 2008 RR HSE, otherwise I would get them over the Ultimax's.

Just picked up EBC pads and rotors

I currently have the EBC Ultimax rotors, which are slotted but not as aggressive as the EBC Sport rotors. I had the EBC Sport's on a Lexus GX470 and they had a constant whirring sound like a biplane - no thanks. The Ultimax rotors have last 30K miles and are on their second set of Green - SUV...

    LR5 Release Updates?

If you will have a total of 4 I would recommend the GL or Sub. The reasons we got the Sub were great leg room in the second room, good leg room in the third row, AND lots of trunk space behind the third row. The Tahoe is tighter in every regard. They are also wide trucks, and we have the bench...

    LR5 Release Updates?

Just an update. I just received my 2016 Suburban Z71 last week. It is huge, but the Z71 improves the ride and handling markedly over the base, towing and magnafirm suspension offerings; but, it is still not close to a Land\Range Rover product - predictably. Anyways, I thought I would share a...

    LR5 Release Updates?

Darn - feeling better about ordering the Suburban Z71. Looks like it will be a few years old before I can even consider the Disco5.
