I have a 2000 Discovery with an Ashcroft CDL Linkage installed in Oct. of '09. Works great until about 3 weeks ago. This truck is my daily driver, and with the snow/bad weather in Indiana this past winter, I used the CDL a great deal. Worked great.

But now I cannot get the shift lever to move horizontally to engage the CDL lock. Cable is fine and connections are tight. It will shift just fine into Lo/Hi transfer case, but will not move side to side to engage the CDL.

I really don't know what direction to check.

Any ideas from the forum would be a real help.

Thanks!!

Not familiar with the Ashcroft CDL Linkage, but my bet would be corrosion somewhere.

Joey--

Is there anything internal in the transfer case that could be causing the problem? A solenoid, lock out, etc?

easy way to check... passenger side of the transfer case you can feel on top of it.. and find the locking nut (so to speak) you should be able to feel if it is moving (with help from someone inside)

'00 CDL fixed

Joey--

Your call about corrosion was correct. The cable was corroded on both ends. A lot of WD40 freed it up. Now a healthy dose of water proof wheel bearing grease where the inner cable goes into the housing should solve the problem.

Thanks for your help!
