2006 LR3 V6 quick question

This has been discussed ad nauseum, but I really don't consider it a risk. I've almost never used premium in 13 years of owning LR's. I'd rather keep the $300 than send it overseas. Also I never really drive mine (v8) hard, so the performance loss isn't noticed. I'm surprised that the V6 even recommends premium.

I hear ya, but the compression ratio on both engines is relatively high:

V8: 10.75:1
V6: 9.75:1

More than likely your knock sensor is working overtime; it just seems like cheap insurance to run the premium.

My V6 runs noticeably better on 91 octane than it does 87 or 89.
