I need some advice about a couple of issues that I'm having with my 2007 HSE LR3.

I keep having speaker / panel rattle. Initially it seemed to be in the passenger front door as many have described here and in other LR3 forums. However, the dealership has been unable to repair this (status post three tries). Now, I have three rattles all of which are noticed more with talk radio or the satellite radio; one is still in the passenger front door, one is in the back-most passenger side speaker, and the other is much more subtle but in the driver's door. In the process of multiple visits to repair this, it just seems to be getting worse. I did give the LR service guys the LR memo code on this issue, but it didn't seem to help. I've also gone without my satellite radio for over three months of my four month ownership of this vehicle (the dealership screwed it up while trying to work on the speakers).

Here's my question to anyone (particularly Grommet if he's out there): should I be worried about these guys replacing my door panels? My vehicle already seems to have more queaks than I would have guessed it to have, and I don't like the idea of the guys here screwing with the factory set panels. Thoughts? Should I start raising more "cain"?

One other thing: though this is a 2007 model truck, I appear to have the 2006 SatNav DVD. I realize that this is quite common, but if I can talk the dealership in to giving me the 2007, will I notice any big improvements?

TIA,
Mark

Hi Mark. Welcome. Regarding replacing the door panels: I wouldn't worry about it. In some problem scenarios, it's the only solution. (For example, some clips can break and doing a plastic weld might not be possible.) I had an interior door panel replaced soon after delivery, since the panel was damaged (probably at the dealer.) No problem.

Since the whole interior door section is one piece, there isn't much they could make worse. It really shouldn't increase your rattles... unless, of course, they break something.

I had 2 rattles in door panels appear within a year, both were resolved... by additional tape insulation, to my knowledge. It did take a couple of tries; subtle rattles are a pain to identify and resolve. I still get some resonance noise at certain frequencies around the driver door panel, but it's fairly rare. (Mostly hear it while on the phone with certain people's voices.)

Anyway, just calmly work through any issues you have with your service department. If something isn't to your liking, talk to the service department manager.

A newer map DVD-ROM will only have a more recent map database. I'm not sure one was released this year yet... you might have the latest one already. I won't update, because I like the in-motion lockout bypass trick which has been removed.

Hi Mark

Having the same problem with my 05. As much as I like my rover, I am becoming less enchanted with it, not because of the LR3, but the service department leaves a lot to be desired...BUCKHEAD LANDROVER--ATL.. I have been waiting 2 months for them to schedule my appointment b/c of the door speaker AND the many other things they messed up while they had it! Because they can't fix the many issues that needs to be repaired, I am so frustrated that I have postponed my new Range Rover purchase for at least 6 months! If things do not change quickly I'll sell it and take my business to RBM!!
