I just picked up a 2015 LR4 with 111500 miles on it. It has a pretty decent service record. Drove it from CO to AZ and what a smooth trip. No issues. I got home last Saturday. It slept outside Saturday but got moved into the shop on Sunday. Tuesday morning I noticed a little coolant puddle on the ground and had a low coolant light on. Filled it up and drove to work. At lunch, went and looked under the truck, no puddle and the coolant was where it was after I filled it. Started it and the coolant light was still off. About an hour later, I showed the truck to a friend and then noticed a small coolant puddle again. No Low coolant light at this time. Yesterday (Wednesday) I drove something else to work. However once I got home I had to do a car shuffle which involved getting the LR into the shop. Parked it and went inside for dinner. I came out after about 80 minutes and saw this.
I got up into the engine compartment and looked in the valley and felt up the rear manifold. No visible signs of coolant and felt no wetness. Got it lifted up in the air, removed the skid plates and the lower front is covered with old and new coolant. It appears to be coming from the front of the engine, midway down somewhere. It only seems to leak when the truck was ran for short period of time, like minutes.
Other than the water pump, thermostat housing and hoses, are there any other spots that a leak like this could be coming from?
Service records shows that the crossover pipe and water pump were replaced at 66000k. The water pump has the brass fitting. Visually the front crossover is the newer version.
From reading pages and pages, it is probably worth it to replace the cross overs and y-pipe seeing that these are at about 50k. Lucky 8 has the Aluminium pipe kit with water pump and T-housing.
Does anyone have any experience with this kit?
I will also be replacing the hoses as most of them appear to be the original ones.
TIA
