I have a 2000 Discovery that I have posted questions about before. I am the 4th owner of this vehicle and except for the 3 amigos, it's great!! 165K on it now, on it's second engine (replaced by owner #2 by a reputable indy shop at 125K). Owner #1 had LF wheel sensor replaced at 118K by the dealer. As far as I can tell, owner #2 had the ABS modulator replaced and also replaced the SLABS ECU with a salvage unit. This is where the newest problem comes in. My mechanic said to go to the dealer to have the codes read. The dealer charged $112.00 to tell me that there was a VIN mismatch between the truck and the SLABS unit, so he couldn't read the codes. At least the dealer did give me the vehicle history.

My mechanic has a diagnostic unit that allowed him to pull some codes before we tried the dealer. The faults that were stored read: Pump failure 1, pump failure 3, shuttle valve switch failure. The dealer said before he can go any farther he needs to install a new SLABS unit for $900. I really don't have the cash nor the inclination to do that.

Forgot to include this:

The amigos come and go at random, no pattern. Sometimes on start up they are gone, other times they come on when started, or will come on as I am just driving along.
In June drove 1500 miles on vacation without ever seeing them. They are totally random!! Help!! :help:

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks in advance!!

ABS issues on the D2 is normally the shuttle valve if random, but not a for sure bet... just an guess from experience.
