Has anyone exprienced this oddity? I have a 2001 Discovery SD w/36k miles, approx 9 months ago my passenger side front door lock stopped working, a few months later the passenger rear door lock started working intermitently and then failed all together, needless to say shortly after that the same happen for the tailgate door and now the rear driverside door. When pressing the key remote or the door lock button on the dash I can hear slight movement of all locks except passenger front. I know these vehicles can be sensitive to voltage so I changed the vehicle battery, no improvement. Has anyone an idea as to what could be causing this, its hard for me to believe all these solenoids are failing. Thanks for helping :)

When you say the lock's not working, do you mean:

(1) The lock actuator doesn't "fire," and the lock tab on the door doesn't move, or
(2) The lock tab moves, but the door still doesn't lock?

You just got into a LR non functional habit. Usually the solenoids are lasting long but the mechanism to open is not always perfect. I had this problem on all the 5 doors and it is annoying when closing that always one or two doors remain unlocked. I resolved the issue by removing the door panels and sprayed W40 (penetrating oil) and afterwards Silicon Lubrication (by spray can) on all the moving parts. Since then, 5 locks go in (and out) simultaneously as it suppose to be.
