Trying to figure out what might have happed to my daughters 99 Disco 2. It was running fine and she stops for fuel. She sets the lock on the pump handle to fill it up and it didn't release when it was full and over flowed gas all over the side of the vehical. When she starts it up it idles a little rough and the check engine light is on. It seems to miss on acceleration abit and the light will be flashing. When she gets up to speed and levels out she says it seems ok but then the light stays on constant.

I figured some gas got into a vent or overflow and it would be ok after a couple days. It's the 4th day now and it's still the same so something must have happened. I can't fanthom how over filling the tank could have done something so serious but it just can't be a coincidence.

The closest Land Rover dealer is 65 miles away. I read in a sticky about Autozone being able to read the codes? Should I go there? I'm hoping someone has heard of this happening and can point me in the right direction (hopefully not the dealer). Thanks.

AutoZone or places like that can check codes. Once the codes are known list them here and I'm sure someone can help. My guess would be that a breather valve on the fuel filler neck is stuck or plugged, which caused the overflow. As far as the CEL, I'm not sure off the top of my head why it would light after an overflow.

Is the truck running OK at all speeds now? Or is it still seeming to miss on initial acceleration?
