Okay, so i'm installing a dvd player and found out the hard way that the wiring on the unit was mislabeled. I turned the power to the unit on and all the lights turned off in the car (ignition was not running). I thought I had blown a fuse or relay, but by the time i had disconnected the dvd unit and opened the hood to started looking, I realized the lights came back on.

I am installing an overhead unit and splicing into the wires that go to the dome and 2nd row map lights. I thought all was fine, but now find that the accessory/ignition wire is dead. This is the wire that was only hot when the key was turned to ignition/on. I had tested it before all of this and know that this is how the wire behaves. The other wires (constant on, door signal and ground) are all still functioning as they should. I checked the interior and engine fuse boxes and did not find any problems, although I don't know if this could be a relay problem and if that can be diagnosed.

Anyone have any ideas on where this one wire could have a fuse or whether it may be a relay problem? I'm trying to get this done for a Christmas present and can obviously just wire it to the constant source, but I'm confident that I will see a drained battery in my future if i do it this way.
