Hi

I have a 99 Disco that has ACE which a small leak from a hose that is attached to power sterring/ace housing. I had read somewhere theat these hoses, are pretty much metal based and would not be changed since it could alter the ACE charateristics. The hose I am looking at seems like an aftermarket rubber hose. My question is there any schematics out there that identifies the ACE configuration so I can get a sense on what it should look like? Its a small annoying leak that I want fixed since I have been feeding new fluid every several days. Its also not a hose that fell under the recall unfortunately.

Second questios is the bleeding of the brakes. I an considering doing this although my question is how do you know it will help? It seems the only solution is to upgrage the calipers but that's pretty pricey.

Thanks for any help particularly on the ACE schematic!

The power Steering and ACE are two different pumps.... When you say that it looks like an aftermarket hose.... does this hose have metal connecters on each end, or is this just a hose?

If just a hose, you can get this at NAPA, they sell a 5/8 RED hose that is capable of withstanding oils that will work for about $5, These normally leak on LR's due to the cheap clamps that are installed from the factory.

If you are talking the metal ended hoses, find a local Hydraulic Shop and have them custom make you a set for less that LR will charge you for one.

Second question, what kind of issues are you having with the brakes to think that you need to blead them? I recommend flushing the brake system at least once ever 40k, LR recomend 20k if I recall correctly.

As far as the ACE goes, it is still just a hydraulic system and should be treated as such... find a good Hydraulic shop and have them look at it if you are having issues. But remember LR's Leak, They are noisy.... and they are now part of the family, so you can't just tell them to shut up and sit in the corner with out at least making a puddle.

ACE/Brakes

Thanks Joey

Great. Its a rubber hose as its seems to be leaking from the clamp area so this is probably the cause. I am planning to have my LR guy take the car for a rough turn ride to see how the hydralics are working to be safe.

On the brakes, the tank has 57K so its long overdue to do this.

It will be a baby to take care of but well worth it.

Thanks again
