Hey all!
I have been having an issue with my alarm system on my Land Rover Discovery I (1998).
I lost my keyless entry handset. Truth is, it was damaged from normal wear and tear, resulting in the tiny plastic piece that holds the keyring breaking off. I was able to locate it, however, but the function would not work properly. I opened up the handset and discovered that the interior had been jarred from the drop and dislodged some pieces that couldn't be fixed. Needless to say I have been using my key to lock and unlock my car. This has been okay in some cases. To be more direct, there have been an insane amount of times where my alarm would sound. Many times, it would take multiple times to try to disarm the alarm. Few without luck.
My first question is, can this keyless handset be replaced? If so, what's the cost?
Second question, can I remove the fuses for the alarm (located under the steering wheel, not the horn altogether). Will this result in any type of damage or unforeseen, on my part, issues that could lead to more issues?
I believe that these are the only questions at this time.
I look forward to hear back from you. Thank you for your time!
