Hello all, I am attempting in this post to collect all the information I’ve seen in several other threads on how to update the Infotainment system on an older 2010-2011 Discovery 4 / LR4 to Apple CarPlay. I am located in the United States (US). But I also have a lot of questions for anyone that has installed any of these.

It seems like my model of the LR4 has the older Integrated Audio Module (IAM) LR040663. Which runs the MOST 2.0 network versus the MOST 2.1 network on the 2012 and newer models.

My 2011 LR4 HSE has factory Nav and Backup camera, so in the list below I am going to keep the existing touchscreen and not delve into the “10.4inch tablet replacement screen” options.

The options are:

1) Naviplus (AU) – $681.30 (AU$1000)
https://www.naviplus.com.au/online-s...Kit-p100678231

2) NavTool (US?) - $599.99
https://www.navtool.com/land-rover-l...e-carplay.aspx

3) NAVIKS (US) - $825
https://naviks.com/i-24077786-2010-2...tegory:1149762

4) Unique Auto - $616.92 (535.99 pounds)
https://unique-ad.co.uk/product/wire...is4-2011-2015/

5) 4x4 Shop CA (CA) - $900
https://4x4shop.ca/product/2009-2016...media/#buy-now

Questions:

1.1) NaviPlus seems to have the most forum mentions; however, the return policy is abysmal, and several forum comments talk about having to solder wires for it to power down correctly. Can anyone who has installed this recently comment on if the soldering is still required, or has NaviPlus fixed this?

1.2) Also, here is great post by TahoeDog on installing a NaviPlus in his LR4:
https://www.landroverworld.org/threa...68/post-233244

2.1) Does the NavTool also require the 1-BOX Android Wireless Smartphone Mirroring Kit for an additional $143.99? https://www.navtool.com/1-box-androi...oring-kit.aspx The website is unclear if it’s “required” it is just listed as an “accessory.”

3.1) NAVIKS description says “Must send screen” but there is no further detail on the website. Do you have to remove the screen from the LR4 and send it in to them?

4.1) Unique Autolists as compatible for Discovery 4 2011-2015. We know the Infotainment system changed in 2012, so I doubt this is correct.

5.1) 4x4 Shop says “not compatible” with the ‘B’ version of the infotainment system.

For all 5 systems, do you have to run a wire all the way to the Aux input in the center console for the 2011 LR4, for sound to work?

Any feedback from those of you who have installed these aftermarket systems is greatly appreciated, thanks!

I just installed a Naviplus in a 2010 LR4 HSE. I had to splice (i.e. solder) into the ACC wire on the main harness and a wire on the start button to signal to carplay to enter dark mode when lights are on. Fairly easy even though I was reluctant to splice wires. You do have to take apart the screen to insert their video signals which involves a bunch of new ribbon cables... looks daunting but its not really. It works very well and am pleased with the support from Naviplus in answering install questions.

Did you get the steering wheel controls?

I just read that the next button works, but not the previous button for skipping music.

But they stated that the phone hang up button will go back one track??

Within CarPlay / Android Auto:
Volume / Phone buttons Will continue to work Track buttons - The 'NEXT' button will work. however the previous one isn't - We normally bound it to the HANG UP Button instead.
