I am thinking of changing my tires this week. I did a bit of research and it’s very hard to find the stock tire 255/65/16R and they are expensive. so I was thinking of replacing my old Michelin tires with new BF Goodrich All – Terrain T/A KO 265/75/16R 120S, but I am not sure if this tire size will fit my Disco2 without a problem.

And I have seen the spire tire adopter to fit larger tires for Disco2 in a magazine, but I searched online and didn’t have any luck with it. If some one could point me in the right direction will be appreciated.

Yes I do a bit of Off-Roading.

If it doesn't fit, all you have to do is remove the spare tire holder and flip it over and remount.

i've got yokohama geolander a/t II's and they're cheaper than the bfg a/t's, i spent about 2 months shopping for tires and was going to get the bfgs but i got talked into the geolanders, i really really like them so far... i'm running 245/75r16 on my 95 discovery (no lift). They're really quiet, grip well in rocks and are cheaper, plus most places will sell them with a 50,000 mile warantee, which i couldn't find for the bfgs... check out discount tire co. or america's tire co.... www.americastire.com

I didn’t get a chance to check out the Yokohama tires you’re talking a bout, but I am not disappointed with the new BF Goodrich A/T $142 (265/75/16R) I got installed. They are surprisingly quiet. All this time I was using a Michelin tire $240 witch was not so quiet. Really happy with the purchase I made. Didn’t get a chance to take it off road yet but I am sure it’s gonna perform much better than the Michelins. I will be testing them off road this weekend at the Angelis National Forest.

I flipped the spare tire holder over and remounted it and it works. I was abele to fit the new spire tire. But the spire tire holder is installed using 6 bolts but when you flip it you can only use 4 bolts. It feels sturdy but I am not sure what will happen in the long run. Hope for the best. :)

I have heard of several people that have flipped the spare tire holder and haven't had an issue yet, I know that I started hearing about it about 5 years ago when I started looking for my Rover.

New Tires (From 255/65/16R to 265/75/16R)

With the new size I must say it looks really good. One of my biggest concerns is my speedometer sowing me the actual speed of the car or is it showing me the speed I would do if I had the (255/65/16R)?

With the new tires when I am doing 70mph on the FW I have the RPM at 2500 now (with the new tires) not sure what it was before. A Tire Calculator shows me that I would have a 6.27 mph increase.

So if I reword my question right, when I see 70 mph on my speedometer am I actually doing 76.27 mph?

On a LR, with that tire increase, you will probably be doing the speed limit. Every LR I have ever been in shows around 6 -8 % slow.

I.E. if going 70 per speedometer you may be going somewhere between 64 and 67 MPH.

you are probably running at 70mph at this point.
