I have a 1996 Disco with the 4.0 L engine
Has any one had any experience with a blower motor resistor?
I will be driving down the road with the A/C on and it stops blowing then will start back up again. I have noticed that the A/C switch that is usually lighted will go dark. After more investigation I keep hearing a clicking noise under the dash on the passanger side of the truck. I noticed that there are several relays down there, and the blower moter. Do you think that it could be the blower motor resistor?
I really need your help....I mean it is only going to be 105 here today.

thanks,

JT

Start checking the relays and the cabling and send up a prayer that you don't have to go for the blower motor.

More then likely it is the fan switch... you have it set on 4... when it turns off, move the switch to 3 and them back to 4 again... this is a very common issue.

You are right about moving the fan speed switch. Do you know why it does this?
is there a way to fix this problem?
thanks, JT

Cheap switch.... you can replace it, but it will have the same issue in a couple of years...

or if you feel like having some fun, tear it apart and clean it. Might last awhile.

We just started having this issue. In fact you don't even need to move the switch all the way to next one down, just pressure works that direction works.

As Disco's are so similar, I got this issue last year and sprayed contact cleaner (can with extension) into the switch (from the front panel slot where the lever is moving) since then it works fine.

I have thought about that... but as with most little things... they are on the list to be done. I rank it right up there with the trim around the door in the basement... one of these days.
