After 8 months and 5300 miles, I'm going in for my 1st service (oil change and to take care of 3 recall items). I'm also having service take a look at my side mirrors. Do other people have issues with their side mirrors not adjusting properly after the car is in reverse (side mirrors adjust downward). When you drive forward, the side mirrors suppose to adjust back up. My problem is frequently the mirrors don't adjust back exactly where it was initially. I have to re-adjust pretty often using the adjustment control. It's not a big deal but since the car is going to be in service, I thought this would be a good thing to check out. The only problem is the service rep might not replicate this issue since this issue doesn't happen all the time.

Anything else I should have service check? Btw, my driver door is squeaking so may have them oil them. Thanks for any advice!

While parallel parking/reversing, do you ever turn off your vehicle before the mirrors have returned to the "normal" position? That's what most people I know did accidentally. When you turn off the vehicle, the last position of the mirror sticks. Of course, you can easily fix the position by selecting one of your preset memory positions. (That is, if you have memory seats!)

Thanks Grommet for your response. However, I don't think that's it. I normally back out of my drive way and then drive forward. This is when I often notice the problem. I don't turn off my car before I drive forward. I'll be more cautious or aware now when I turn off the car in that I'll make sure my mirrors have returned to "normal" position.

I do have memory seats and never dawn on me to use it for my mirrors. Thanks!

There is a TSB(LA-501-009) about the mirrors. The fix requires that they replace the Windows Control Module. I had this done on mine still does not work perfect. but keys bind much easier. They will bind to seat position of whoever uses it last. So if my daughter was the last to drive it automatically get set to however she had the seat set up

Good luck with that one! I complained about that twice and can only imagine the service guys going reverse to forward 5 times before declaring it "non-reproduceable," which is the response I got.

Good to know there is a TSB for it.

I fix it 90% of the time by waiting for the car, as grommet said, before I shut it off. Not that you should have to, but that's how it works. Oh yes, closing your sunroof? you have to hold your finger there until its all the way closed too...forget about any one touch convenience there as well! :)

anyway, i got off on a tangent, back to mirrors...yeah, sometimes it still messes up for me but hitting the memory button these days seems to restore to correct position. (didn't used to fix things so maybe I got one of the TSBs in a service visit)

Just got my car back from service after 2 days. Sat overnight at the dealership for the part to come in for that seat memory ECU which the service rep stated was related to the mirror issue. Didn't have to mention the TSB LA-501-009. The rep already knew about that. Got the B034, B036 and B037 done along with oil change. Had them also lube my driver front door since it was squeaking. All and all, everything went well especially with the interior and exterior car wash. Thumbs up for BMC in San Francisco!
