Is there any kits to convert these? How much?
I am bummed that my 03 does not have this. Should I even care? I live in Fort Worth Texas where I will prolly not see to much extreme terrain. When would you want to activate CDL?

You should be bummed...

Simply put, you want CDL in any situation with less traction. This can include (but certainly is not limited to):

  • Hill climbs on loose terrain
  • Descents on loose terrain
  • Driving in sand/loose soil
  • Driving in mud
  • Driving in snow
Did I miss anything?

First, you need to check to see whether your transfer case has the requisite CDL knob - if it does have it, then there are a number of cheap or expensive acutuators that you can buy to easily turn the CDL knob.

To locate the knob, have a look at these pictures:

Good luck! If your transfer case doesn't have it, then it'll be a more expensive exercise because you'll need to remove your x-fer case and get the internals fitted to be able to engage the CDL.
