2011 lr4 started popping the CEL today. code p0174. i know this is lean code for bank 2. Thinking possibly PCV valves as they have never been renewed to my knowledge or possible upstream 02 sensor. what is the most likely cause on these vehicles?

PCV usually causes lean conditions in both banks, but the PCV is so easy to change on the V8 that I’d do it first just in case that’s it. It needs to be done anyway - if those valves are from 2011, they’ll rip soon if they haven’t yet. Someone recently posted about the springs being different in the two valves, so you might pay attention to the old vs new springs when you get the kits - might have to use the original springs if they are different from what is supplied.

If that’s not it, I think the o2 sensor is probably the most common reason for a lean code on a single bank. Could also be a fuel injector. If you have the gap tool or other advanced scanner, you could take a look at the pulse width modulation on the fuel injectors for that bank and see if one is very different from the rest. That data is available for the V8, but doesn’t seem to be available for the V6 engine.

ok, while waiting on new PCV valves, CEL now indicates p0174 and p0171 so thinking this it probably going to be it since it is now both banks.
