Hi Machmike, I would be looking for a bad earth.

A poor earth return to the alternator can easily cause the alternator to run at a high voltage.

Specifically check the motor to body earth and make sure it is not corroded where it is connected to the body, usually in behind the wheel arch.

This type of poor earth connection could also cause the interior light problem you are having.

It looks like JLR did me dirty when they changed my windshield. The a pillars werent seated / clipped in properly and water was getting into the car because of this. I had no clue this was a point of entry for water vs the sunshade area (which was totally dry).
