clock wiring

Hello all, if anybody can help I will be most gratefull. I've bought a digi clock on ebay to replace the currant one which is now missing pixels, but the original is 8 pin and the new is 4 pin. I've had some success getting it going but whenever I turn the ignition off the clock resets itself. Wires on the four pin are black,red/black,blue/white,red/yellow. Does anyone know which wires I should connect them to or should I just be more careful with what I buy! Thanks mark
