My Son just bought a used 97 Discovery SD7. It has, on the steering wheel +Accel, and - Resume. To the left, on the dash, it also has a + over a rising ramp, and a - over a lowering ramp, we have no owners manual to operate from so we are flying blindly. we have figured out quite a bit but how to operate the cruise control has baffled us. we, quite frankly, don't even know if it has cruise control. Can anyone help?

I did see someone else was asking about breaks and rotors for a 97 Discovery and cost. I had to replace the front brakes and rotors on my sons for inspection. I did it myself and also replaced the bearings for just shy of $150.00 for both sides.

lease feel free to email me at my personal email address because I may not find this one again. Thank [email protected]

Probably a vacuum leak in the cruise system. Trace the hose from the bellows near your throttle cable at the plenum to where it "T's" at the drivers side inner fender. One direction takes you to the vacuum pump and the other goes into the cabin through the fire wall near your brake booster. Somewhere you have a leak if you push the + rising ramp switch on the dash and the +Set on your steering wheel above 35mph.

The plus and minus ramps to the left as you call them are the gain or volume controls for the radio if it is like my discovery. Turn the dial on the radio up and touch the up or down ramp and see if I'm correct. There should be a switch to the right of your wheel by the clock that activates your cruise kind of looks like a pie sighn or tracks if you will. If depressed it will light up. Cruise seems to quite working on alot of these vehicles I've spent days on mine it's the ecu darn it !!!!!!!!

Once I took the vacuum motor apart and re-greased and replaced the split vacuum lines my cruise worked and has worked since. Your right about the ramp switches, radio volume on the right dash pod. I thought the cruise engage switch symbol looked like a highway going under a bridge.....

The ON/Off switch for Disco cruise control is just below the clock. The symbol on this push-button switch is an international highway sign. It illustrates a divided highwary .... motorway .... with an overpass. When pressed, it will light up to show it as ON. Next, operate the SET tab-type-button by pulling it toward you.
