Disco II radiator help

Hey Guys,

I have 2004 Disco II and there is a small leak at the top of the radiator in the screw hole. What is a quick fix or is it something major? I have attached a few pics.

How many miles on it, if at or near 100,000 miles, the radiator should be replaced. For a real short term, you might try sanding down the area on the tank and then use a large amount of JB Weld.
Once these tanks get old, the plastic tends to fail and will not last long.
Also, make sure you replace your t/stat with a new 180 degree soft spring unit to allow the engine to run cooler.

I replaced the entire radiator a couple months back because I snapped off the small overflow ******. I also screwed down that screw too far and it punctured the radiator. Teflon taped worked for a while, then I ordered the aftermarket radiator from British Rover Miami for about $240 shipped. Once I figured out where all the screws and bolts were, it was not bad. Getting the tranny cooler off and back on was a knuckle buster. It was a learning experience for sure.

Thanks for the response. I did a emergency duct tape on the screw fix and it seems to be holding fine for now. I will keep an eye on it since it doesn't seem to be cracked around the screw hole. New Thermo was just installed so it runs pretty cool.

Duct tape!!! that will not handle the heat and one day it will let go and can cost you an engine. I understand you are not very mechanical so let me ask you this, which is cheaper a new radiator or a $5000 to $7000 engine when it fails?

Thanks for the concern. I just used it to plug the leak in the screw hole and stop leaking until I got some JB weld. With 150k on my Disco I know I will need a new radiator soon.
