Discover II Draught on driver's side door

The driver's side door on my Disco II SE7 vibrates around the window and I'm getting a draught. On a chilly and windy day, I could feel the air blowing into the car on the driver's side when I was stopped at a traffic light. Driving at 65 MPH on the freeway, I can feel the breeze and see the door vibrate. The draught is coming from between the edge of the door and the bodywork. I checked the rubber seals and they all appear to be in good shape.

When we had the winter storms in So Cal, the rain didn't come in through the window, so I didn't think much about it. When I took the truck to the carwash. I noticed water had gotten into the vehicle and dampened the suede on the door. So the jets on the side shooting water at the truck allowed the water to seap in.

Is there an easy way to adjust the door seating on the hinges to provide a tighter fit? Easy is probably a relative term.

Mike,
The first thing you may want to do is make sure that the door hinges are tight to both the door and the door well. I don't understand wht could cause the door to vibrate. When outside the truck, doe the door look to be fully closed and aligned?

The door looks aligned correctly from the outside. I'm thinking about either replacing the rubber seals with larger seals to see if that will stop water from coming in and/or see if I can add on top of the current seals since they appear to be in good shape.

I have to think it is not a seal problem, the door should not be vibrating and a seal won't make the difference. Does the door sound different, when being closed are, then the other doors? Can you push the door in and out, is it in any way loose? If not there has to be something else going on.

You could also have your dealer look into re-aligning/adjusting the entire door. I had to have my dealer do this on the same door so that the feet of my roof rack would not smack the top of the door every time it was opened or closed.

I was hoping that it would be something easier than the door needing to be realigned, but I think that may be the problem.

I got medieval with the door this afternoon. These are the steps I took to fix the problem.

1. Put window down. 2. open door and place A dollar bill between the door and the door seal. 3. Close door so that Dollar is trapped between door and seal. If you can pull out the bill easily it needs to be adjusted. Also you can see how much the upper part of the door frame is compressing the seal with the window down. To adjust, put window down, open door, put your knee on the top of the door panel and pull the upper frame to you. Adjusting it in slightly. Keep adjusting until you can see the seal is getting compressed significantly and/or the bill has some drag on it.

I went out this evening in a windy, rainy storm and didn't feel the draught. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
