Greetings All,
As much as I may regret saying this >>>>>> I also am somewhat surprised by the lack of off-road capability this 2006 LR-3 has! It is a nice on road tool with light off roading but for the serious stuff my modded 1991 4 runner will leave this HI DOLLAR rig behind

I think you are being fair and accurate with that comment. But I look at it a different way. For 90% of the terrain you will encounter, the LR3 will handle with comfort and poise, and make it look easy compared to most other vehicles, but that last 10% will probably be beyond it's capabilities. Perhaps even beyond it's potential. The way I look at it, the LR3 is the best machine available in stock configuration for the widest range of off road/on road conditions. But if you need to run that last 10% of more extreme trail, you are going to have choose another tool, or invest some serious cash.

Now I will spend some more money to get this thing (Winston) to work better off road or back on the market bloc it goes.. Does anybody on this forum know of some electrical HACKS to better control the ridiculous factory suspension height settings???

1. Sure would be nice to get max ground clearance setting without banging
up the underside of the vehicle.
Yes, there is a German company that sells a black box that intercepts the signal from the level sensors and tells the computer something else, in effect, allowing you to raise up into Super Extended mode (+5" for 13" net clearance) on demand. http://www.matzker.de/product_info.php?products_id=520

2. Sure would be nice to get this thing over 28 MPH in off road setting. This
is necessary on wash board roads in BAJA where you need at least 45 MPH
to stay on top to keep from beating you and your ride to death.
Sure, there are several ways to do this.
1. Stay in standard height mode (which is quite supple and high enough for washboard roads)
2. Get the Matzker kit
3. Get a coil sprung LR3 like mine
4. Invest some serious cash, replace the Air suspension with coilovers, and reprogram the ECU

Please understand >>> I like this ride but the 4x4 capabilities DO NOT cut it. How do I improve the off roading of this open differential vehicle????????

Please help me save Winston!!

Open diff? You have a center locking diff and phenomenal traction control that WILL be equal to or better than most trucks are when fully locked. There is also the HD package which includes a locking rear diff, but it sounds as if you may not have that option. It works great.

Here are things you can do now to increase your trucks ability
1. TIRES (BFG AT's fit, so do the Nitto Terra Grapplers)
2. ARB front bumper or fab your own
3. Kaymar rear bumper and tire carrier/jerry can holder
4. Safari snorkle or Land Rover KIT raised air intake
5. front skid plate from ASIFR or Mantec
6. Rock sliders from Rover Specialties
7. Rear skids from ASIFR
8. Matzker electronic tweaks to the suspension

Your truck is capable, but it requires a different style and technique. Take a look at my galleries and you will see the LR3 put through the paces.

Has anyone installed the Matzker module here in North America yet? I have sent several emails to the company that supposedly represents them in the US requesting pricing and installation details, but never got any replies.

The Rover Guru thing is automatic, all you need to do to earn is post a lot :)

Your timing with Rover Rendezvous is a challenge, we just turned off registration last night! Send me an email at "nwoods" at "sclr" dot "com"

Matzker provided me with this contact:

Mr. Richard Moody
Rover Special Vehicles
65 North Main Road
Jamestown RI 02835

Tel.: 1-401-935-1118
E-Mail: roverspecialvehicles@***.net

Hope you have better luck than me... I tried several e-mails and left messages at that #, both weren't acknowledged.
