engine cutting in and out

Help! please, I have just purchased a land rover discovery 1993 v8 auto, had only used it the first week running up the street to do some shopping, but yesterday I went for a trip down the freeway and and on the return trip the engine cut in and out with the yellow dash light {engine starting procedure}coming on each time. it did this four times in the space of 10 minutes then we pulled off the freeway and stoped at the lights we took off and the car just died we coasted to the curb turned the key off and put it back into park the car started again fine, any ideas please.

Sounds like an electrical issue... I would check the Alternator and the battery

I have found a coil wire loose and tightned it up also discovered that the alarm emobiliser was put into overide position, not sure if that had anything to do with it cutting out but the engine hasn't cut out since then.
