mbw,

Your LR4 is looking so nice. You are right, both Voyager and Urban make a great product and you can always chat with them (Derek at Urban is awesome) and make the rack customized to your needs. I have the OEM ladder, which I really like, but had the Voyager ladder on my old LR4. I really like the design and quality, but I think his early ladders (which is what I had) were a bit different because the fit was not as good as it could be, but it seems like that has changed.

In the end, I went with Urban because he is local (well, 3 hours away) and his rack fit my full-length roof rails (which I sort of wanted to keep on).

Or the 'floor' on the front part that I have, etc.

That's the ONE thing I wish I had welded on at the time - a FLOOR! I am working on something now, but man I want a floor to give me a bit more room - mostly to hold a spare tire.

I thought about cross bars since they hold a fair amount of weight, but not sure I want to go that route.

Also, when I had the Voyager rack, I just put a cross bar in the back (like what I have) and it worked great.

how much overall weight does the flooring add? Does anyone have close up shots of the expedition rack?

The flooring that mbw and I have is industrial chicken coop flooring from FarmTek and adds less than 10 pounds. It's pretty amazing stuff!

I know you can order metal flooring from either company, but the chicken coop flooring works just as well, easy to cut, and you can secure it with industrial zip ties.

Here is a link:

I do not have any close-up shots of the Expedition rack, but I know someone with an LR3 who has one so maybe I can get a few shots if I see them offroading next month. I will tell you, they like it, but it definitely has limits and is meant to hold minimal items. I like the look, but I was REALLY disappointed when I looked at it close up - very cheap feeling. I know they paid over $2,000 for it as well. Yikes! That's why I shared the link on Craigslist for the person in CA selling for $700.00.

Not the best picture of the rack, but I love my Voyager Standard.

I have their LR4 Tire Carrier and Half ladder (camera). The tire carrier is modified to only anchor in the middle versus a long bar all the way across.

I have the same chicken coop flooring mentioned earlier in the thread (necessary to protect the roof glass).

I have two Front Runner Jerry can trays anchored to the flooring, water & fuel.

Voyager also added the hi-lift jack mount and shovel.

As you can see with the tire carrier you can still haul other toys.

That is a nice looking LR4. Post some more pictures in the show off thread.
