hey guys new here was kinda looking for some help. had my rover for about 3 months now and quite honestly it has been some headaches.

what I got 2000 RR 136k

for starters had my front propshaft break off while doing 70, tore some sh#$ up. I got that fixed but after it was fixed when you went into drive it had a bit of a lag before it would kick into gear and after that it was fine, put it in park and it started all over again. periodically the display would read "gearbox fault" now it wont go into any gear except reverse and even that feels pretty rough when it engages. Low 2wd kinda feels like it grabs but it will not move but an inch and it still reads gearbox fault.

I know it just might be a tranny job but I have read that this could also be electrical problems which I am hoping thats all it is.

if anyone has experienced this please llet me know some paths to take to check it.

heres what has been done so far:

The tranny oil/filter was changed
the battery was tested, plus it is a fairly new battery.
all fuses checked
replaced the battery terminals, they were almost corroded clear through the wires
neutral safety switch (xzy switch) replaced due to damage from the propshaft
connecting rod to that also replaced was bent not allowing the tranny to accept the right gear

Pleeeeeeeease help

thanks alot

When the front drive shaft U-joint busted it probably tore up the wiring harness going to the transmission and my have messed up the linkage. I whomever did the work didn't pull everything out to check it, the possible electrical issue may have cause issues with the transmission ECU by now. I would stop driving and find a good Rover mechanic and have them check it.
