had my 2 front windows tinted today to match my rear factory tint. The shop used Llumar ATR 30% film type. Pretty happy with it. Just waiting for the tint to dry which will take a couple of days before I can roll down the windows.

Have a question though. My installer stated that my factory tint does not have UV protection what so ever. The rear windows are just color tinted. Is this true? Just amazed that LR didn't add any UV protection to there tinted windows. Was given the option to apply tint film over my factory tint to add the UV. Still debating since it will cost an additional $260 for the rear 5 windows. I can go with a lighter tint since the rear are already kinda dark. Has anyone done this?

I had 'factory' level 30% fitted to my D1's rear windows--all like ten of them, for 260 and 15% fitted to the front--as it is illegal for ANY front tint in CA, had to put SOME there tho!--I dont know, if the factory tints are not UV protection, I would assume they arent, but could also be a 'reason' for your shop to get a few quick bucks by 'applying' a uv coating, you know what i mean? I dont think my tint has UV protection, would have to look at the paperwork. Why is it so important for you to have UV?

with UV, the cabin blocks out the heat better. only important to me since I have 2 young kids. also in CA, I know it's illegal too but worth the risk.

where should I check if the windows are UV coated?

I've tinted everything...I did 20% on the back and 5% on the fronts...I like it. I live in the valley of the sun though. It's pretty much illegal; but worth it. Plus it only cost me $200.

I'll post pics later this week.

Are your front windows darker (5%) than your back windows? Weren't you happy with the factory tint? Please show pics... thanks!

I doubt that UV coating does anything more for heat than the regular tint (heat being IR not UV). UV does damage plastics, fabric and probably leather, not to mention your retinas.

I had the dealer tint my two front windows to match the rest. Illegal in NYC too, but I like the privacy it affords and the truck looks better too.
