Excuse the ignorance but this is my first forum ever. I have an '04 Land Rover Discovery Series II, I assume that translates to a "disco 2"? Anyway, I've always wanted a Rover and now I have one with minor repairs needed and I need a little insight. So far this is what I've found and need assistance on: leak on passenger side pillar ,from sunroof I assume; oil leaks, going to replace top end gaskets; while the truck is running it has a ticking noise. And to state the obvious, I don't know how to use forums

Welcome to the forum. Yes you have a Disco 2, tech questions are best in the forum section associated with your vehicle.

But since i am here :) Passenger side pillar would be sunroof related, probably a clogged drain tube. Open the sunroof find the drain tube and attempt to clear with low pressure air.

Leaks are normal if they are not horrible.

Ticking noise, does it go away after getting warm or stay all the time? Does it go away above idle?

The ticking doesn't go away after warm up but it does go away with hither RPM. The leaks aren't horrible, should be easy fixes.

Ticking I would start with a mechanics stethoscope and listen to where it is coming from, more than likely it is a Liner in one of the cylinders that is slightly low. It will not hurt anything as long as you don't overheat the engine. Of course overheating an aluminum engine is always bad anyways.
