hi there All I'm gonna repost my earlier posting from a few weeks ago, since I never got a response.

There's also an update.

The Land Rover in Ben shop now thinks it's an electrical issue and they want to send to an electrical expert.

I failed smog now six times, and maybe you have one last attempt in me since this is all costing me a lot of money.

My 2010 will not pass smog because of a
P0100 speed sensor "A" error code.

The shop checked and replaced speed sensors on wheel hubs, but that did not do the trick. They thought it was perhaps the speed sensor connected to the transmission (I believe there's one input in one output) this job might cost upwards of $3000 though, and it's still might not fix the problem.

When they run diagnostics, the shop gets everything checking out OK and they don't understand why I'm not passing smog, it's just this one error code. That's the speed sensor. That's driving me insane.

Here's my original thanks so much and let me know if anybody has any thoughts.

Hello all. Wondering if anyone could be of help here.
I have a 2010 Range Rover HSE that is getting an error code P0500 vehicle speed sensor circuit A.

I found a similar thread on the boards and the person fixed the error by replacing one of the ABS speed sensors on the wheel hub. In his case, it was the right rear.

I live in California, and this error messages is preventing me from passing smog and registering my car.
The shop that's doing the work it is insisting that it's the transmission speed sensor that will require upwards of $2000 plus of Work to switch it out.

I currently gave The go ahead to switch out the right rear ABS sensor to see if code go's away.
They might test and troubleshoot the other 3 as well.
The strange thing is that their diagnostic's show all 4 sensors working properly.

Anyways, I'm trying to see if this will be the fix, before I move onto the costlier work of replacing transmission speed sensor.

So I'm wondering if anyone here, in addition to the other poster with the same problem has any experience/ insights with this?

Also, does anyone know if " A" designates which sensor it might be, or not related to location?

Thanks! so much..cheers!"

Yes, I took it to the JLR in San Francisco.
I took it there to reset the onboard computer or update it.
I forget the term that was used.
It's a bit confusing because originally everyone was telling me that I should be passing smog according to the readouts, but it's a speed sensor error that's preventing me from passing ,however they're all saying that my speed sensors are functioning properly.

Quite the mystery really.

Thanks!

I've tried that, but the code does not clear.
I also did two drive cycles.
The first was 15 cold starts, with 250 miles.
The second was 30 cold starts, with 200 miles.
I'm in the middle of another cycle right now, but not sure why I'm doing it if the code cannot clear.

Maybe I'll take it back to the Land Rover dealership to give it another go.

I appreciate all your info. Thanks so much.

You're welcome.

If the DTC won't clear, you have a hard fault.
The transmission speed sensor is part of the valve body.

Thanks!
Question: are you saying that this speed sensor fault might be tied to the transmission?
This is what I was trying to avoid.

Cheers!
