How to check to see which O2 sensor is faulty

Hi there...

I am new to this group, and have a question.

I have a 97 Disco, and am getting the fault codes P0135 O2 sensor malfunction bank 1 sensor 1

and P0150 Sensor malfunction bank 2 sensor 1

which sensor needs to be changed?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How many miles on the truck? If you are over 80,000 miles change all the O2 sensors and your plug wires if they haven't been done yet cause they are the biggest killer of O2's.

there are just around 70000miles on it.

should i still change them all?

What sort of maintance have you been doing with the truck, tune up wise, plugs ires that sort of stuff. have you decarboned the engine every so often??

I actually just picked up the truck about four weeks ago. I had the fuel system cleaned and the engine innards cleaned when i changed the oil to semi synthetic. have not done a tune up to it, and according to the service records from the original owner (which i had the dealership send me), it has only had its scheduled oil changes etc. looks like the original wires i guess. I was planning on changing the spark plugs and perhapse the wires now too. would that maybe solve my problem? I seem to be getting the check engine lite now with the P0150 code every three or four days and the P0135 only twice out of five times. I am getting tired of hooking up the old OBD II to turn off the light.

You need to look i nto a good set of plugs and wire real quick, should make a big difference.
I run Bosh Platium Plus 4's and Magnacor 8mm wires, much better set up then the factory plugs and wires.

i will change the plugs today and see what kind of wires i can track down.

I know that the vehicle passed emmisions tests before they sent it out, which is odd on the o2 sensors.

ill keep you posted on the wires and plugs.

I am not sure where you are located but here is a web site if you want to order some Magnacor's. Do your self a favor and don't just buy any old plug wire set.
