dealer will tell you $$$$$$$$$. Independent mucho better. Pads per axle are $50 - $80, labor is nothing special, 1-2 hours per axle, sensor (mine is $17 front) is cheap if needed. Dealer will say rotors with pads always, I bet $1000-1200 all around. Save half by sourcing brand name pads and using a reputable, experienced independent (not a brake shop) - if you don't DIY.

Well the first thing he suggested is that I ripped the wire to the sensors offroading - I go almost every weekend, and I am not gentle. So they're goling to check that, check thicknesses, and tell me where I'm at. I'll sort it out from there.

Well this had a happy & cheap resolution. I bought my LR3 as a CPO 3,500 miles ago, and as part of the certification they put on all new brakes (CPO requires at least 60% brake life left). They put on the wrong wear sensors when they did it. They replaced the sensors and I'm all set.

Total time in the shop - 45 minutes on the way to work. Total cost: zero.

And you updated the forum, too. Very nice. So many folks forget to tell what happens to them. Drive happy.

Unfortunately, on the best stuff my butt is completely puckered to the seat, so I don't have too many pics. Here's a few:

on that second one, I mostly have pictures of my friend's Rubi, and he has more pictures of me here:

I'm trying to get better about getting out and taking more pictures, or giving my camera to my friend to get shots.

I know how tough that is....especially when you're driving. The biggest obstacles are the things you want the pics of, but you're too busy concentrating to think of that stuff! This past weekend my wife did the driving so I was able to get out and get video....but it seems like whenever I take video or still shots, it never captures the real contour of the trail. I guess I'm just a bad photographer/videographer.

Anyhow, thanks for posting. Those trails look open and fun. I like wide trails. I don't like pin-striping but it's a fact of life if you're gonna go offroad. Polishes work pretty well to reduce the effects of those scuffs. I have a black LR3 as well and I use Zaino products on my paint. The Z5 polish is excellent for dark colors. I have plenty of small scuffs (pin stripes) but you can't see any of them until you are a foot away and TRYING to see them.

With all the fun I've had...I'll take that.

Bad Sensor? 2006 LR3 V8 SE

I too am having the irritating pad warning...took it to a (non Land Rover) shop and they said I had at least 30% wear left all the way around so I am assuming I have a bad sensor. I picked up a front and rear sensor from Land Rover and tried to replace them last night. I started on the front. I folded the wheel well lining back fine and found the top termination. I removed what I guess is the sensor attached to the caliper. Be fore I removed the wiring I compared the new part SEM 000024 to what was there. The top connection looks right but the sensor end (at the end of the green wiring) looks nothing like the sensor I removed from the caliper.

Am I missing somthing here or am I just stupid.

Can someone help?!?!?!?

The dealer took care of it for me - turns out they had put the wrong sensors on during the CPO check. If the my dealer could mix up the parts, perhaps yours did too and gave you the wrong ones. Worth looking into.
