I just did a simple install for my radar detector. Mounted it above the rearview mirror and snaked the cord along the headliner and down the top edge of the A piller (made sure to steer clear of the air bag curtain). I've got the power going into the fuse box, but now i can't find a ground connection to save my life! I see 2 screws that are holding peices of plastic onto a bare metal frame and when i touch the ground wire to it, it turns on the radar detector. But is it a bad idea to sandwich a ground connection between plastic and metal? DIdn't know if heat or sparks or something would be an issue.

Any thoughts?

Shouldn't be a concern hooking the ground connection there:

A. Your radar detector isn't pulling enough current to be concerned about heat during nornal use.
B. As long as it is fused, it should blow the fuse before anything bad would happen should it short out.

BTW - I've hooked to the exact same sort of connection many times when hardwiring a radar detector with zero problems.
