I am considering purchasing a used 2006 LR3 S (not an SE or HSE but the base model S) with the 3rd row/cold climate package with 10,000 miles on it for $30,000?

It was a Land Rover loaner vehilce.

I'm concerned that the resale on the base model with the 6 cyl. engine will not retain enough of its value to justify the purchase.

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

You can do better on price. I would think you could get it down to about $28k. It's great that it only has 10,000 miles on it, but what other options does it have? Have you given thought to items that you might want and lament later? I spent some time in a nice HSE (or loaded SE, I can't remember which), and there were some nifty features that it had that my base model does not. I like my base model for other reasons, but you might be different. Does it have Nav? (no). Rear PDC? (probably not), Air suspension & Terrain control? (maybe). HD package (locking rear diff and full size spare)? 6 disk CD player? (probably not), AUX input for iPod? (probably not), xenon headlights? (no), auto headlights? (no), etc... Give it some thought, and compare the price to the V8 SE's with Nav for cost comparisons in your area. Try www.AutoTrader.com or www.Edmonds.com

One week ago I bought a 2005 SE V8 loaded, upgraded stereo, , rear PDC, cold climate, heated rear seats, Navigation, Xenon, wood trim, etc. Only had 11,000 miles and was the dealer Demo. Got it for $32,000. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the advice gentleman.

nwoods: I have comparison shopped and all the 2006 low mileage V8 SE models are at least $5K more than the one I'm considering.

tim: Can I ask where you purchased the vehilce. That seems like an amaizing price based upon the research I've done.

Thanks

Prestige Mercedes/Land Rover in Paramus, New Jersey. I believe they have the best prices around and they are very willing to haggle a bit. Buyer beware though; make sure you carefully inspect your vehicle before you purchase it.

tim,

Thanks for your suggestion. This week I'll be off to Paramus Land Rover picking up a 2006 SE V8 with approx 16,000 miles on it. I also believe I got a good deal; the price is $33,000.

Thanks again.

I got my truck as 2005 in 15 months ago, paid $35k for with 5k miles on it. I thought I did pretty decent. Hope this helps.
