My car is pretty unusual. I don't have much by way of concrete fact, but the story I've pieced together goes as follows:Cpa4S said:did you just paint the body molding white or is that a kit?
the full white looks really good imo.
There were 25 (or 27?) 2005 LR3's accidently ordered by LRNA in the "European market only" Base model configuration. In the UK, you can order Base, S, SE, or HSE. In the USA, you can only get SE or HSE, normally.
My particular car (and many of these oddball base models) where given to Ford and LR execs to play with. Mine was given to a guy who works at Premier Automotive Group in Southern California, where Ford's premium brands have their North American Headquarters and Design Studio. My truck was used as test bed for alternate color schemes, both exterior and interior.
Evenutally, my truck found it's way to a local dealership, where I snagged it.
My truck as the monocolor exterior as you noted, and powder coated ten spoke LR wheels, Nitto tires, etc... but what's really unique is the lack of air suspension, terrain control, dash mounted 4x4 info system, etc... Also, the trim work inside my vehicle has been painted metalic silver, and looks really good in my opinon.
I personally do not like wood on the inside of vehicles. I feel it's an unauthentic application of materials. Wood hasn't been used in car construction in 50 or 60 years (not counting Austin Healeys). To add wood for cosemetics only, feels false to me, even when it's real wood. It's the architect in me I guess. Form follows function and all that.
