when i bought my 97 disco i got two generic keys with it. does anyone know if the 97 originally came with a remote ket for the locks or not?

yup, they should all have keyless entry....couple hundred bux for a few remotes from dealer tho, i believe...95 and earlier models you can program them yourself, but with a 97 you need the dealer to sync the remote with the vehicle---bastards! i only have one remote on my 97, but its better than none! (operating distance is horrible tho, like, over 50 feet you will be lucky to have it register, holding up to your head helps, makes you an antenna...thats just for the future, as i am sure you are going out to buy your remotes soon!)

what do you mean generic? i have two real generic steel ones, and then one or two (ya, i probably should keep track of it) that are black plastic with the key...i think these are the standard keys. I woulda thought that there would be a Land Rover logo, but there isnt? At least, this is what I think, maybe the black plastic key is generic, but i thought it was the standard key...gotta love buying used *rolls eyes*

yeah, i have the black plastic ones too, i just figured they were copies of the original because they didnt have a logo or anything

i ordered a blank key from the stealership and it was a black key without any logo.
