Correct. It's obviously not approved/tested for use in that configuration. Use the seat belt for the center.

You guys have me thinking about this now. The car seat seems very sturdy when attached in this manner, more so than when attached using the seatbelt. In thinking about where a problem might arise, I suppose it may not be secure in a crash because it would be attached to the seats on either side versus the middle seat when it would be one single unit. Why did they not put latch anchors on the middle seat?

Not sure of the specifics or science behind it but I would believe it would be best to move your seat to the side or secure it with the seatbelt in the middle seat. Good question on why most cars don't have latch in the middle, I'd like to know that myself.
