Lock cylinder removal 96 discovery

My key will not turn in the ignition. The inner cylinder depresses when I stick the key in but will not turn to start it. This problem got steadily worse until now it will not turn at all. I'm thinking I need to remove the starting mechanism and replace the cylinder? It's a Manual v8 1996 discovery. Thanks.

Time to change the ignition... the key is made of hard steel the cylinder is not... so sadly the key is not the part to wear out.
