Assuming the switch you installed, you should have been able to lock and unlock the door a couple of times slowly and hence shuting off the alarm. Try it.
You can not shut off the alarm, the dealer can thru the computer. As for the remote, that can only be set up by the dealer also, and yes he will bang you alitle, usually around $100.

One more try...

Hey Mike...Gave it a shot. As you adviced, I proceeded to switch the lock button on and off a few times. The alarm stopped, but the anti-theft system did not disengage. The rig did not turn on. Disappointed, but will try again. Will probably order a new lock cylinder switch. Maybe the one I bougth is not for the truck. Will see how that goes...unless you, or anyone else, have other suggestions.

Can't you just go to the dealer with the VIN and have them order a new key.
