I recently replaced my shifter linkage and bushing assy. Now I cannot get the correct adjustment done.
How can I know the transmission lever on side of transmission is in park or neutral ?
I read that the shifter lever inside vehicle must be in Park and lever on side of transmission (under car) needs to be in neutral, then tighten bushing nut.
Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but nothing is working.
Transmission was working ok prior to this, but bushing was sticking.

Make sure that the bushing at the gear shift lever is ok.
  • Move the selector lever on the gearbox fully forward and release it. The lever will return to the 'P' position.
  • Make sure the selector lever is in the 'P' position. Push the cable inner rearward then release it.
    • Move the selector lever from 'P' position, check engagement in each position and return to 'P'.
    • Check that the engine will start in 'P' and 'N' positions and that the engine start is inhibited when drive positions are selected.
