The next chapter to the saga. I bought a VSS and an Idle Air Bypass Valve. The probles was when traveling down the highway the and the truck started to surge, power then no power, power then no power. I had a pickup that would vapor lock like this. After consulting some of the guys here we thought it was the VSS. I checked on another forum and found that it could be the Air Bypass Valve. (This little beast is a stepper motor that opens an air channel bypassing the throttle, for those occasions when the engine needs a bit of extra respiration -- such as when you are running the air conditioning) This was the easiest of the two to start with. It has been a week now and I have not had the problem again. I will keep the VSS just in case i need it.
