LR3 2008-power steering concern

I just completed my two year lease on a 2006 LR3 and returned it last week to my New York City dealer. I just picked up a new 2008 LR3 this past week. Much to my dismay the power steering is so easy that my two-year-old grandson was able to turn the steering wheel while parked. I enjoyed the power steering on the 2006 LR3 much better as it was tighter and stiffer. The steering wheel was also thicker on the 2006 LR3.

Is there any way that the power steering can be tightened or adjusted so that you can feel the connection between you the LR3 and the road. Driving through the pothole gutted streets of Manhattan I almost lost control of the SUV three times this evening. The power steering is dangerously to loose. I can not imagine driving the new LR3 through a rock crawl or rugged terrain. You no longer feel that you have control over the steering wheel. If anyone has any serious suggestions on how to adjust and tighten the power steering please respond ASAP.

I have a solution for you as my 2005 LR3 HSE has the thick wheel and tight steering you are looking for. I live in the Washington, DC area. Let's meet halfway and we can trade trucks for a couple years. When you're lease is up we can swap back.

Tuna, for starters you can go drive a different 2008 to see if the power steering feedback is any greater than the one you leased. If so, then maybe there is an adjustment that can be made. ...did they put the LR2 steering wheel on the new model or something? That would indeed be disappointing.

That's interesting, I was just driving a rental today (GMC Acadia), which I actually liked. This to me is shocking because it's a GM car, and I have a very low opinion of GM design mentalities when it comes to road feel, seats, and interiors.

But I digress... my point was that I pointedly did not like how overboosted the power steering was a low speeds, and how thin the steering wheel was. I was craving my LR3's perfectly weighted and appropriately sized 2005 steering wheel.
