Hey guys, I do not know if this topic has been discussed before, but through reading the other posts on this topic I couldn't get the information I wanted. I am thinking about ordering a set of the modified rods, and was wondering how difficult that they would be to install for me. I am pretty terrible with anything having to do with cars, and even small things I would rather pay a mechanic to do. So, I was just wondering the extent of work needing to be done with installing and removing the mod. I also would most likely love to leave them on full time because of how great the LR3 looks with that extra 2 inches so any other thoughts on that would be great, thanks.

I had the same question. I am a little more car savvy and would be willing to do it myself, but again I am interested in the difficulty and how it exactly works.

I can address this for you guys. I take mine and off every time I go wheelin. It is mostly a pain in the neck but not difficult per se. I always remove the wheels but others do it straight up without removing the wheels. The rig will not react when you remove each arm, but I always have it on jackstands just in case. The main thing is getting the rubber part over the little ******* that it sits on. You want to be careful not to tear the rubber or bend/break the platic linkage that is connected to the sensor.

The first time doing it is a real struggle and you have to be patient. After a few times it becomes really easy. It takes me about 1/4 as long to do now. This is because I'm used to it but also because my stock rods have been "broken in" and go on and off a bit easier now.

Hope that helps...

I would say if you can hammer a nail without busting your hand open or can upen a beer you should be able to swap the rods. It is simple but you do have to youse some muscle with finesse. Don't be afraid to get them thinking you wont be able to get them on. That like turning down *** becouse your afraid of how to use a ******. It is simpe and not complicated I will talk you thru it on the phone if I have to. Just let me know when you are ready for a set.

Sounds great. Also though what are the effects of leaving the rods on for six months, a year, etc. I would really like to leave it on full time like instead of just when I'm going to wheel.

I have had mine on since February and no problems yet. However the LR3 is not
my daily driver. Weekends with the family and one trail per month in my opinion justify me leaving them on full time. Other opinions may vary.

You will be fine. If you are going to run it full time some guys like to get an alignment done to adjust camber. I have left mine on for up to 3months at a time and no issues.
I take it off becouse the wife like acess mode for getting the kids in and out.

I have been looking at the pictures of the rods on your profile and I was just curious on what exactly you do to make new rods and what is the tape around them for. Sorry for all the questions, I just want to be sure before I buy they are durable and I wont mess up anything expensive.

This is a good time to ask...drz is your price based on shortening MY existing rods or do you make your own shorter rods that I use to replace mine? I'm just wondering if my truck will be out of commission for a few days? I plan on getting them, but not until I need new tires. I also will plan on just getting maybe 1" or 1.25" of lift and leaving them on all the time.
Thanx (and have fun at Drummond, bring your camera)

These are the updated pics sorry about that.
No I use new rods so there is no down time.
They are stout and will hold up mine are no where near as enforced as the ones I make and are still going strong. There is veary little stress on the rods themselves. My profile now has the updated pics.
If you want less lift we can do that I can go to 5-8mm for you roverman. Thru testing by myself and others there seems to be no problems as long as you don't go more than 13mm that seems to be the max for reliability. I usually go 10mm so you ae still semi stock.
