LR3 Tire size question Help !

I am leasing an LR3 and cant stand the noise of my GY HP.s I was going to switch them with the Yokohama Geolandar H/T-S G052 size 255 55 18.

This tire is 5mm smaller and 1" smaller in diameter 29.1" total. The reason I am going to this tire is when i turn the lease in I will put the HP's back on and can stick the Yokhamas on my BMW X5 which is stock size is 255 55 18.

Will this be a problem for the LR3??

Does anyone know how the 9 inch smaller diameter effects the odometer. The revs per mile are 713 on the Yoks versus 695 on the Goodyear stocks.

I'm in the same situation as you, with the lease turn in and putting the HP's back on. I bought the michelin cross terrain in 275 55 18. They are the same diameter and a little (.8? inch) wider. I've been very happy with them so far.
The .9 inch will affect the odometer by about 3%, ie you will be going 58.2 instead of 60 mph

Do you get any rubbing? Why so wide? How much did you pay?

No, they are fine. It's only .8 inch wider. Personally I don't like wide tires but I wanted the same diameter (in case I need the spare) and there aren't many choices. Very happy with the tire so far. Paid about 650-700 for the set I think.

Hey Roverman, how is the traction on those cross terrains climbing on loose dirt??

As far as MPH goes, you should check via the GPS first if the LR3 is anything like the D1 or D2 then when it shows 60 on the speedometer you will acually be going around 56.

The Freelanders were up to 10 MPH off at 75 they would acually be going 65.
