Thanks and keep the gang posted. I am creating a whole separate thread for my lighting upgrade from the OEM Hella Aux lights to Baja Designs LP6 Pros.

The OEM wiring harness goes through the firewall where the steering junk and power brake stuff is - you can check out those instructions which @Rover Range posted (although the instructions are pretty crappy IMHO).
As you noted - the lights need something really solid and sturdy (which is why most folks opt for a heavy / Steel bumper). For me, I simply reused and modified the OEM set steel upright supports which bolt directly onto the bumper/frame.
