Looked through the existing threads but did not turn up anything on this one.
Took my 2008 LR3 into the dealer yesterday for a few minor things and also to have the brakes checked out. Have been hearing a metallic scraping/screeching sound from what appears to be the front brakes but not sure. The sound is not consistent but is most prevalent in the morning pulling out of the garage and when pushing the brakes to a complete stop (not hearing it when applying the brakes generally when slowing down just when coming to a complete stop and then not even all the time). The dealer checked it out and came back saying that the sound was 'normal' due to the metallic nature of the braking system and the sound would be worse when the car has been sitting for longer periods of time and especially when there is high humidity in the air. This seemed odd to me since every other car/truck I have had when I hear that type of screeching/scraping there is usually an issue with the brakes, most times with the pads or rotors. The pads (both front and back) were replaced back in October and the truck has less than 1500 miles on it since that replacement. They checked the pads and rotors and had the car most of the day yesterday trying to determine if there was an issue and came up with everything checking out OK.
Has anyone else had this with their LR3? Does the explanation of 'metallic nature of the braking system' sound reasonable or do you think I should have it checked out elsewhere to be sure?
