minor oil leak coming through both sides of the valve covers...

i just noticed some minor oil leak coming through both sides of the valve covers... i need some new valve cover gaskets right??? if so how intense is the labor? any feedback would be much appreciated.

my 00 disco II currently has 80K miles on the clock.

This really depends on how many seals and gaskets you are willing to replace. Rovers are like Harley's if it leaks all is good, if it stops leaking your out of oil.

You can replace the gaskets, but you will be seeing them leak or another leak withing a few weeks.

But to answer your question it isn't that hard to replace valve cover gaskets.

Joey thanks for the reply back. So I guess this is normal. I have been checking oil level and its been good so far. I check it everytime I fill up on gas. Never had to add oil yet.

What is I start using 10w30 instead of the 5w30 i have been using in the passed? will it help?

It might, but since the Rover engine was designed in the early 1960's by Buick you can't expect much as far as sealing... Keep in mind that when Rover bought the Engine design they also bought the tooling, so it is still basically the same engine.

I would show you a pic of my oil leaks, but the mud has them all covered up... maybe I should wash it - :biggrin: just afraid it might leak more.

i'll put 10w30 tonight when i change the oil. we'll see if it helps. probably not. take care folks.
