Hey everybody... I have a 2000 range rover 4.0 se (p38) and it has developed a very violent shaking in the front end over the last three months that I've owned it. I have had new tires put on it, and new steering damper, and had the front end alighned, and its still shaking. Sometimes when I go around a corner it sill calm down a bit but as soon as I get going straight again the shaking comes back. I would greatly appreciate any help that anybody could offer.

Sounds like either ball joints (which I would hope they would have notice during alignment) or your hub bearings are loose.

How hard are those to fix? I guess you could call me an amateur mechanic... if I have instructions I can do pretty much anything

Panhard rod bushing will require a hydraulic press... but you can pull the panhard rod easy enough. 2 bolts, it is the bar that goes between the front axle and the frame and an angle, curved bar.

Axle bushings will require a special tool that can be bought for about $20 or less from atlantic british. just a pain in the ass to do the job for a newbie.... but if you download the RAVE cd you can see how it works.

I looked underneath it yesterday just looking... and I noticed the shock bushing on the driver side is wore out.... would that cause the shaking?

It can contribute to the shaking... but the panhard rod bushings and possible bearing issues will cause the shakes.

Yes, a loose or bad wheel bearing can and will cause shaking.... I would start with the panhard rod though....
