After 167K miles, yeah the new clutch should feel different. No more whine of the throw-out bearing. Thats good! :) No more having to jam it to the floor to engage the clutch. That's good too. But with a new clutch and tranny, the clutch now engages almost at the very top of the pedal. Too much free pedal if you ask me. The mechanic has said that the only thing we can try is to bleed the clutch line, but I think he's done this 2 or 3 times already.

Anybody have an idea what might be going on? I thought that the clutch was self adjusting. If I understood correctly from an earlier post.

After spending $3k for a new clutch/tranny, kinda would like it to be perfect. But than again, it's a D1 with 167k miles. ;-)

Thanks,
Scott

The pedal feel has improved with regards to increased resistence (heavy) to engage the clutch instead of being real light. But it's still engages very close to the top of the pedal. I've read somewhere in the forum that the clutch is self-adjusting, is it just going to take a while for it to adjust?

Any thoughts on this appreciated.

I was hoping to get some reply from the guys/gals that follow the forum that have a manual transmission.

Still no real change in the engagement point for the clutch. Still very much at the top of the pedel which makes it real hard to coordinate the shifting. Especially starting out in first gear.

I've just bought a Service Manual for the disco in hopes of finding out what adjustments might be available. But wont be getting it for a couple more days hopefully.

Thanks,
Scott
