My wife pulled out a box yesterday that she bought while I was out of town last year. It has two sets of keys/FOB and a door handle/lock and the ignition module that goes on the steering column.
Aparently she thought someone had lost one of her truck keys and wanted the whole mess replaced.
Anyway the dealer wouldn't take the stuff back, he says its already coded as being for our vehicle now...
I took the plastic off of the stering colum and found that the bolts that hold this piece on are cut down so you can't fit a tool on them to remove.
If I take a dremel and cut them down or cut a screwdriver slot in them and replace the ignition and door locks, will anything have to be programed by the dealer or is the keyless entry controler and receiver in this piece that goes in the steering column.

I know one thing only about your question. If it is a D1, the controller and receiver for the keyless entry is not in the key ignition. I replaced mine.

The bolts you are talking about have a piece on top of them that breaks off when they are at a certain torque. Not sure why they are made that way, maybe for anti-theft reasons. Once you receive your RAVE CD it will tell you how to correctly remove the ignition. Can't remember right now. You can just use regular bolts to install the new ignition instead of buying new shear bolts.

It came with new shear bolts, what stoped me from doing it was the current ones are sheared and other than cutting I couldn't think of a way to replace them.
If the rave cd tells me I'll be alright... if I purchased the right one anyway..

I think you can use a chisel and hammer on the bolts just to get them started.
