Hey all! New member here, with a new to us White '05 LR3 SE 5 (V-8) we bought used with 19K on it. No real issues with it yet, and love it so far. We traded in the wifes 2000 Wrangler on it, and she is in cloud nine. We live in Edmonds WA (a suburb of Seattle).
An item or two that we are going to be looking for is Side Steps and an auxillary cargo carrying system (roof rack or a hitch mounted cargo box). Am I correct in that there are very few US aftermarket items available for these? Especially in regards to the side steps.

I am an avid do it myselfer, and will do most service myself (after the free ones run out). I myself drive an 06 Dodge Ram diesel, and love hot-rodding it (last dyno'd 475hp/826ft-lbs). Hopefully there arent enough aftermarket power items for the LR3 to tempt me to the dark side with this!!!

Sweet! It is amazing what you can do with diesels! I can't even imagine 826ft.lbs. of torque.

BTW - if you wanted an SUV to modify for power, the Touareg TDI (V10, 550lb.ft. of torque stock) would have been a good place to start  Having said that, the RRS uses a supercharged version of our engine - I believe it is a smaller displacement, probably lower compression version, but it seems like supercharging our engine should be doable.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you all pay for your 05? Options? Certified?

Welcome and congrats!
Rich

We werent looking for one to mod for power. Wifes ride stays stock!!!! ;)

We paid 34 for it. Its certified. Options that I can think of off the top of my head: Light group (can anyone really see the lights move??), cold climate package, navigation, premium sound system, ugly wood grain panels, rubber floor mats. I think there are one or two more.

Sweet - good deal.

I believe the dynamic headlights are only available on the HSE. The lighting package on the SE does not include the ability to move with the steering wheel.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I have the LR side step tubes that I really like the look of, but aren't actually that functional (they hug the chassis pretty close so that the ground clearance isn't impacted). LR also sells side steps. I'm not sure how many third party options there are, but if you search the forurm you'll find pictures of my mount.

Storage boxes fit the the LR roof rack pretty easily. I'm in the market for one as well if you find a good Yakima price, let me know! :)

I can see my lights move at night. I am not so sure the SE came with that option in 2005. The light package for the SE just meant you could get Xenon instead of Halogen I think....

Sidesteps? This is an LR3 man!!! Just program the key to drop the suspension to make it easy for the wife to get in. THAT's the LR3 way!

Well, yeah...but I think the sidesteps:
1. Look good
2. Help in washing the top of the car
3. Protect against door-dings

The downside is that they're easily damaged off-road.

Yeah except the emergency flashers have to be on to make that work.
